The 2007 Grocery Charity Ball held at SkyCity Convention Centre on Friday 31st August was a huge success, raising $500,000 for the Life Education Trust. A record crowd of 680 attended this year's charity ball, which now in its forth year, has become an event not to be missed on the grocery industry calendar. They came and enjoyed a fantastic evening of food and wine, and the spectacular entertainment provided by 'Unusualist' Raymond Crowe (www.raymondcrowe.com) and the band Kick (www.kick.co.nz). At the same time, MC Tony Veitch goaded guests into parting with this fantastic sum of money for Life Education. The fund raised on the evening will build a mobile classroom to tour schools in the Central Auckland area (see www.lifeeducation.org.nz). Throughout the last year, Auckland Central Life Education Trust Chairman Lance Hutchison has worked with the Grocery Charity Ball Trust to organise this year's Ball. "We are overwhelmed with the industry's efforts," says Lance. "They not only had a great night out together, but they also dug deep into their pockets to raise an unbelievable amount of money ... money that will help us reach more children as the demand for our programmes continues to outstrip our resources." "On behalf of the young people of New Zealand, thanks to everyone involved." |
